Pride March
The fight is not over. Let’s bring our communities together to elevate our stories and make our voices heard! As we take Pride back to its activist roots with the Pride March, we’re bringing everyone together to elevate important issues for our communities in our fight for progress - to create ripples of change across the motu.
This year we are proud to be holding space with our whānau from Intersex Aotearoa (ITANZ). This February we will March in solidarity alongside our intersex community members, elevating their voices and educating ourselves in variations of sex characteristics, thanks to this important and diverse group that is part of our rainbow community.
This March calls for solidarity, celebration of all bodies, sovereignty, and proud intersexy joy! Intersex Aotearoa continues to build recognition, awareness and to fight for a platform for Intersex folk in Aotearoa. We at Auckland Pride not only want to awhi their kaupapa but come together as a community to uplift the too-often forgotten voices of the Intersex community and to elevate their platform so we as a community can offer our unified support.
For more information and if you wish to learn more about what it means to be Intersex, please head to www.intersexaotearoa.org
The March will open from 2pm outside the Central City Library on Lorne Street. At 2:50pm we will have some brief speeches and following that we will March as a community down Queen Street, right through Tyler Street and into Takutai Square, Britomart.
This is a whānau and rangatahi friendly event so there will be no alcohol allowed at any time during the March. To ensure everyone’s safety there will be a team of volunteers as well as security to help anyone out if they need before, during, and after the march.
When we finish the March in Britomart there will be food trucks, a DJ and plenty of bean bags to sit down and connect as a community and celebrate together in a relaxed atmosphere. If you have any questions about the event or any concerns please feel free to get in touch with Alex, the event Producer - alex@aucklandpride.org.nz
We need you! We can’t deliver our fantastic events without the invaluable help of our volunteers every year. Sign up to volunteer at the Pride March
